Introduction

The aim of the instructional unit is to provide information to athletes about the importance of hydration. This unit will focus on the signs and symptoms of dehydration, actionable steps to prevent dehydration, and rehydration.

There are 4 goals and objectives for this Instructional Unit. The goals and objectives are listed and linked below.

1.Explain how hydration affects athletic performance

Objective1.1 - Given the information, the athlete will be able to identify the effects dehydration has on athletic performance.

2.Create an action plan for combating dehydration

Objective 2.1 - Given the information, the athlete will be able to identify strategies to plan for combating dehydration

3.Describe how one becomes dehydrated

Objective 3.1 - Given the information, the athlete will be able to identify how an athlete can become dehydrated

4.Describe how one rehydrates after becoming dehydrated

Objective 4.1 - Given the information, the athlete will be able to explain the process of rehydrating
